THAILAND: Bangkok/Salaya

UCEAP SUPPORT

We’ve got you covered every step of the way, so you can dive into Thai life without worry, balancing your studies and unforgettable experiences! KEI will be by your side starting with pre-departure advising and travel planning to airport reception in Bangkok and support throughout your time in Thailand.

Pre-departure support

Your interaction with KEI starts with a one-on-one advising meeting with our Program Specialist to learn about your needs and interests and discuss the program – including Mahidol University International College (MUIC), academics/courses, housing, KEI support services, budget, and anything else that’s on your mind. KEI will also provide you with a comprehensive Pre-departure Guide that will help you prepare for your time in Thailand and answer most of your questions.

But that’s not all! You will have access to our Program Specialist through

Visa & travel planning

Concerned about getting a student visa or planning your travel? No need to worry! KEI will guide you through the visa process. The KEI Visa & Travel Guide will take you through the visa application step-by-step, and our friendly staff will answer questions and provide advice. The same goes for your travel planning. KEI will let you know when to arrive in Bangkok and introduce you to other students so that you can coordinate your flights.

In-country support

KEI’s in-country support starts on Day 1 with airport welcome and transfer to housing. Our Onsite Director will meet you at Bundit House to assist with check-in. Next day is the start of your orientation.

KEI Orientation starts on Day 2 with a Thai culture and health & safety brief followed by a neighborhood tour to introduce students to local shops, cafes/restaurants, and transportation. We end the day with a Welcome Dinner to relax and reflect. Day 3, a City Tour to help students become oriented in Bangkok while seeing some incredible sights such as the Royal Palace. KEI coordinates orientation activities with MUIC. While MUIC focuses on registration, campus tour, academics, student clubs, etc., KEI focuses on practical aspects of living in a new city and culture.

KEI’s support continues throughout the semester. Our Director meets with students regularly for cultural activities, meals, and other events. Students are encouraged to contact our Director if they have questions, not feeling well or need to go to the hospital/clinic.

Emergency assistance

The KEI Director is available 24/7 in case of an emergency. Whether it’s a medical or safety emergency, our Director will assist as needed. KEI also registers students with the U.S. Department of State Smart Travelers Enrollment Program (STEP), which informs the U.S. Embassy of your presence in Thailand and sends safety notifications during your program.

Internship & volunteering (optional)

KEI offers internship and community service placements for qualified students. Placement is based on professional interests. Positions are available in business, communications, health, public service, technology, and other professional tracks. Placements cannot be guaranteed due to third-party involvement, although KEI has 95% success in securing placements. Note that internship/service placement is optional, and costs $400 (if placement is secured).

ONSITE DIRECTOR

Marisa Vinitketkumnuan

Bangkok/Salaya, Thailand

I was born in Evanston, Illinois but moved to Thailand when I was 6 years old. My family lives in Chiang Mai, a beautiful city in the north of Thailand, which we will visit during the program.

I earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Chiang Mai University. Before joining KEI more than 10 years ago, I worked at Stamford International University in the Student Life Department where I assisted students from all over the world. As the KEI Onsite Director, I have the best job in the world helping students learn about Thailand and integrate into the culture, organizing activities and field trips, answering questions, and assisting as needed.

I enjoy working with students and look forward to helping you make the most of your time in Thailand. I can’t wait for you to experience the Land of Smiles.

Do not hesitate to call or email me if you have questions. I am always glad to advise and help.
